Some people expect Coupang to make a reflective profit due to the Timon incident, but I disagree.
It is fortunate that it will evolve into a simple Timon event, but it is also likely to spread to the e-commerce market or the economy as a whole.
Fortunately, even if the flame goes out, there is a 100% chance that the FTC and others will repair the current settlement system, and Coupang is more sensitive. In addition, if unfair transactions with suppliers, which have been raised so far, become an issue, it will inevitably face pressure on business.
Coupang, which made operating profit by playing with interest or squeezing contractors, clearly faces a crisis. Some might say that it is different from other platforms due to the large proportion of private sales (rockets), but the settlement system is very strong and only inventory costs are high anyway. And the logistics system, which is called its strength, will come as a cost burden during the downturn. Price and quality have already become less competitive, and Coupang's remaining strength is only the loyalty of its locked customers.
Then who is relatively advantageous? If I had to choose, wouldn't it be Naver? The settlement process is already fast and there is no burden of inventory.
Nevertheless, the era of e-commerce is coming to an end. It is no longer innovative and cannot create differentiated values. Then, what is the next paradigm of distribution? Personally, I think the "age of brand" will come again. Whether it is food, home appliances, or fashion, it will be integrated into its own brand channel. Such cases have already begun to emerge in various fields, and consumers have begun to notice - the cheapest price at public homes.
p.s. I'm backing Naver for Coupang because it recently acquired Naver shares while Coupang doesn't have a single share. ^^ (See previous posting)
