<Experience of similar sudden acceleration>
.
It's not something that happened recently, it happened about 7-8 years ago.
I was driving across the Han River Bridge anyway, whether it was Hannam Bridge or Banpo Bridge, and suddenly the car was weird.
.
It wasn't rush hour, so the road wasn't crowded and I was accelerating by stepping on the accelerator, and then naturally just slightly braked to slow it down.......
The car suddenly accelerated the moment I took my foot off the brake. I was so surprised that it slows down when I apply the brake again, but I also accelerated immediately as soon as I took my foot off.
.
For a moment, I thought, "Is it sudden acceleration?" It's not like there's a roar or a lot of acceleration, but it accelerates without touching the accelerator anyway.
.
I thought a lot in a short time.
If I turn off the engine, I give up because I think the brake might lock and it might not turn off while driving,
.
When I changed the gear to neutral (N), the power transmission was cut off and the engine made a huge roar.
In fact, whether the engine makes a roar or not, if you apply the brake to stop the car and turn off the engine at that time, you can overcome the emergency situation, but the car made a roar, so I was more embarrassed and couldn't think of that. I thought about what to do when I changed the gear to drive (D) and applied the brake,
.
I was thinking about forcing my gear into parking, but I didn't know what was going to happen when it was already 70 to 80 kph, so I decided to leave it as a last resort, and I kept trying to figure it out,
.
I looked sideways at the accelerator pedal, wondering what the hell was going on...
.
As the driver's seat mat was pushed forward, it was overlapped in layers and was seen sandwiched between the side of the accelerator pedal and the vehicle body. Because of that, the accelerator was fixed and accelerated while being pressed. I quickly got down my hand and took out the mat, and fortunately, I was able to avoid an accident.
.
The driver's mat was a genuine product that came with me when I bought a car, but even before that, even if I hung it on the fixing ring on the floor, it would fall out and be pushed forward. Of course, I never got it stuck next to the accelerator before that.
Anyway, I took out the mat that day, threw it away, and drove around without the driver's mat until the day I changed the car.
.
In 2009, a family member who was riding a Lexus in California called 911 and died in a crash, leaving a statement that the brake was not working. Similar to what I experienced at the time, Toyoda announced that the mat got stuck in the accelerator pedal and made a large-scale recall, which later revealed that there was an abnormality in the electronic control system.
.
There is a lot of sudden acceleration news recently, and even if it's not actually an engine problem, there are quite a few cases where you can't control your car due to physical circumstances such as mats getting stuck in the pedals.
I don't know because it's been so long since I've dealt with traffic accidents, but I wonder if criminal negligence will be recognized in such a case
