[About the start-up ecosystem: What are the causes and countermeasures?]
I went to a lecture in a faraway area yesterday, and while I was explaining this and that, one of the participants was very angry.
"Shouldn't investors see the founder's dream and future vision, invest and help?"
"Airbnb, Facebook, Google, etc. have all been invested without looking at numbers, what's wrong with our country?"
I've never seen someone so angry while attending a lecture, but I explained it step by step.
And I later told him that he seemed too excited and that it was okay to apologize.
It was really good. I didn't feel particularly bad, or anything, because that's how you can think.
But on the way back, I thought, "Where did it go wrong?"
1. Media that only spreads irrelevant images
There are many ups and downs in startups, and there are many cases of lightning success and rapid failure.
So if you don't think about what the essence is, you just look at it, and you don't see all the causes and consequences of success and failure.
The reason for success is to simply focus on the state number, so do well, it's close to the same principle,
The theory of failure is more like a public opinion that he was a bad guy.
Interest-oriented coverage, misleading articles, and booksellers and nonsense....it seems like the media around it has a bigger impact than I thought.
2. The culture that Silicon Valley is right, and we're wrong
It's a similar context to No. 1, but the uncritical adage that Silicon Valley's rules are right also seems to play a role.
Even though the market is larger than ours, the investment environment itself is different, and the culture is completely different, if you do it there, anything is right and the answer, and we have to learn, it seems to be a problem.
There was once a book that celebrated Netflix's internal culture, and after following it like crazy during the bubble period, no one talked about Netflix's performance, and now Netflix is ruined, and when the performance improves again, I wonder what the hell is going on.
Silicon Valley is a very good market for us to benchmark, and it is right that it is ahead of us where the latest technologies come first. However, I think it is thoughtless to ignore all of our corporate culture and environment, and follow them in such a way that they are all right and we are all wrong.
3. It's not just about success, it's about teaching failure and how to manage risk
Start-ups are going bankrupt these days. There are many bankrupt companies and difficult companies around me.
Who taught those who had been hit directly by the economic recession how to manage risk?
I only told him to run forward, but no one told me to look around while avoiding stone roots.
I wonder if it would have been like this if you had told me to run and look around, see yourself, and grow while surviving.
What the 90% failure rate means is that all the founders around me are doomed.
I think it's better to have the failure rate reduced as much as possible than 90% failing and standing up quickly.
4. So, I want you to help each other understand their essence and develop basic skills.
Unicorns are important and the growth of large companies is important in order to grow a healthy start-up ecosystem, but small and starting entrepreneurs need to make efforts to grow and survive better.
It is good to set goals and act according to your own interests, but in the end, this ecosystem can be maintained only when the founders survive soundly.
To do this, it is recommended that the elements that make up the start-up ecosystem perform what role they play, what their purpose is, and what their path is.
I hope you don't try to hit the back of your head after being misled with sweet words or try to approach you as an adult and take care of your own benefits.
We need an environment that gives comfort to those who are struggling, gives adequate advice to those who cannot manage risk, and helps them have basic skills rather than fantasies.
That way, you can stand up even if you fail, and even if you succeed, you won't continue in the wrong direction, right?
I hope the true founder community is a place where we can positively influence each other in this way, not just drink, play and talk.
