Tesla engineer Milan Kovac acknowledged at a recent We, Robot event that the company's humanoid robot, Optimus, "has received some human help."

Tesla Inc's humanoid robot Optimus received "some help" from humans at last week's We, Robot event, company engineer Milan Kovac said on Wednesday.

The We Are Robots event was hosted by Tesla on Oct. 10 at the Warner Bros. Discovery movie studio near Los Angeles.

At the event, Tesla unveiled Cybercab, a dedicated robot taxi product for two people.

The robot taxi has butterfly wings that open upward, and it has also been unveiled with Robovan, which can accommodate up to 20 people.

At the event, there were also humanoid robots communicating with the attendees.

"There were always about 20 active robots, and they walked, danced, took selfies or poured drinks and handed out snacks among the crowded crowds," Kovaci engineer said.

He added that the robots had "some human help" to show the company's vision.

He also noted that one robot tripped over someone's handbag, hinting that Tesla's robot still has a long way to go before it performs its perfect task.

However, the engineer stressed that the company has made significant improvements to Optimus' hardware stability and infrastructure to operate robots in public outdoor settings.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for a statement from Benzinga.

At Tesla's annual shareholder meeting, Elon Musk said there would be at least one humanoid robot for everyone in the world in the future, hinting that the total humanoid robot population would be at least 10 billion.

"Autonomous vehicles have a market value of $5 to $7 trillion, and Optimus has a market value of $25 trillion," he added.

Musk expects Optimus to sell for $10,000 or $20,000 if it goes into mass production, which is lower than Tesla's cheapest Model 3 sedan.

He also said in July this year that the company would produce low volumes of "truly useful" humanoid robots for use at its plants next year,

It said it would "hopefully" increase production for other customers in 2026.
