1. prior to the review

First of all, I would like to clarify that this review has been written after I accepted Seum Books' request for review. Since I am also a human being, when I review books that I have not purchased, I tend to consider more positive aspects than cold-headed criticism. Thankfully, this time, the CEO said that a critical view is okay, so I was able to write this article more objectively and cool-headedly without deceiving myself. Nevertheless, please note that this review reflects my subjective position to the end. I am also a child of the times, and my writings are bound to be influenced by the worldview, thoughts, and faith in me. Before the review, I will briefly introduce myself.

I entered the Department of Life Sciences at Pohang University of Technology in 1996 and graduated with a doctorate at the same school in 2009. I am an experimental biologist who came to Korea in June 2022 after completing my postdoctoral research program in the United States in 2011, went through a staff scientist, and is currently serving as a senior researcher at the Genome Correction Research Group of the Institute of Basic Science. Molecular biology, cell biology, embryology, mouse genetics, and hematology were the foundations of my research to obtain my doctorate, and I have been conducting field research non-stop in similar areas ever since.

I am a scientist and a Christian at the same time. I believe that Jesus is Christ and Lord, and that he still dwells, guides, and histories in those who believe in the Holy Spirit. I also believe that God is the Creator and the Savior. I am still struggling to survive the kingdom of God, which has already come but has not yet come, every day. I have been confined to a private gospel and have belatedly realized the publicity of the gospel in the church, workplace, home, anywhere, and I am constantly relying on the Holy Spirit to live a life of preaching the gospel by itself, not by words and theory.

2. a review
(1) general review

It was harder than I thought to finish reading this book. It was not because of the difficulty. This book was written enough to be read and understood by any serious Christian. The reason why this book was difficult to read is that I felt stuffy throughout the book. Despite the anachronistic cover painting, I did not give up my expectations and read the book patiently due to the word "dialogue" written in the title. Unfortunately, however, my expectations ended with just high expectations. Fortunately, no insincere writings can be found in this book. The author maintains a gentlemanly posture from beginning to end. I think it represents and emulates his excellent personality. However, this posture seemed to be far from the one when talking to an equal person. On the contrary, half seemed to be making excuses, and the other half seemed to stick to the attitude of correcting and teaching others nonetheless.

I don't know the author at all. However, the author's writing seemed like an effort to relieve the injustice of the past that was persecuted and criticized. I think the author's anger probably played a lot in the frustration and discomfort I felt. I don't know why, but the author seemed to put himself in the victim's position all the time. The intention to justify the damage caused in the past was so strong that it aroused compassion.

In addition, he seemed to be taking the position of representing Orthodox Christianity and protecting the Bible, not an individual himself. In the book, the author repeatedly said, "The Bible is...…", "In the Bible...…", "From a traditional point of view...…", I use phrases like this. The problems that the author assumes as his interlocutor (these problems have already been disputed by many fundamentalist Christian believers in the creative science camp). The important thing is that even those who are called theistic evolutionists know these problems and eagerly await theological interpretation that can solve them) and then add a fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible that interprets it literally. It seemed as if the author thought that the literal interpretation of the Bible was necessary to have an authentic Christian faith. The most important point to criticize here is the fact that the author talks and criticizes the theory of revitalization. Interestingly, all the points I will criticize are on the cover. This book is in line with the cover without any reversal in content.

(2) the theory of the evolution of the Restoration

Personally, I don't like the term 'theory of restoration' in itself. This is due to the fact that it gives the impression that a branch of science called the theory of revitalization exists. There is no such discipline. Likewise, I believe the use of the term 'relaxation' should be avoided. It is because it forces unnecessary speculation, as if there were both revitalization and atheistic evolution during evolution. Above all, I feel irresponsible throwing away unnecessary problems in the scientific community. As I can see from reading the book, and even after looking at many years of debates with creative scientists, the question has always been the domain of theology, not the domain of science, how to interpret the Bible. I am concerned that the use of these terms will have the effect of bolstering the false stereotypes prevalent in Korean Christianity, namely the climate in which science and theology are viewed as opposed to each other. Also, the term revitalization theory does not directly reveal the meaning of creation. As the author concedes, revitalists believe in the creation of God. It is completely different from atheists or materialists. Therefore, I prefer the use of the term 'evolutionary creation'. It's one of those things that I said years ago, when I was going to be active in over-the-counter activities, that these things are not ending and they're constantly repeating
