Statistics show the contents of accidents related to electric vehicles.
According to the article, a total of 139 electric vehicle fires have occurred in the past six years, excluding domestic arson and accidents.
Of these, 75 cases of fire started in the battery, 54%.
Of the 75 cases, 43 cases of LG Ensol and 22 cases of SK On were 65, and 87% of the accidents caused by the battery were domestic manufacturers' batteries.

I think it will be helpful to find a solution to know exactly what the problem is. Electric vehicle fires can be seen as a result of the increase in the cumulative number of registrations, or slightly more frequent than that. Statistics only represent percentages, so I think we will have to increase the number of populations to make a practical comparison. This will be the reason why the increase in the number of registered electric vehicles and the increase in the number of fires will be similar after 21.
It is also true to point out that electric cars are more dangerous when a fire breaks out. It is a car that uses technology (battery) that has never existed before. This means that social systems also need to be prepared. If the system has been supplemented with a focus on usability, such as the supply of chargers, it means that now we need to find policies and directions for safety.
When I looked it up, it was in January this year that the Korea Battery Industry Association established industrial standards such as the 'Test Method for Defermented Materials for Lithium Secondary Battery'. It will also be helpful to evaluate the delay in thermal runaway and disclose information through these tests.
The fear-mongering of "Chinese batteries" and "electric vehicles" is not helping anything. Psychological stability of consumers and the general public...This is said to be important, and it will not be solved unless we deviate from the two topics and come up with a fundamental solution. Statistically, domestic batteries are more likely to catch fire. If this happens, it's just not to ride electric cars.
The last photo shows the average level of air quality in Seoul before and after the full-scale distribution of electric vehicles. This is when the policy of reducing diesel buses and changing taxis from LPG to electricity was in full swing. It clearly shows that air quality is improving.
Of course, there is no full-fledged research to say that this content only consisted of 'the supply of electric vehicles', so the evidence is insufficient. Nevertheless, it is clear that electric vehicles are of great help in improving the atmosphere, especially the air quality around us.
