๐Ÿ“‘ Major events this week

๐Ÿ“Š Consumer Expenditure Indicator: Data to gauge consumer spending, the force underpinning the U.S. economy, will be released Tuesday (18th, local time) on retail sales data for May. Wall Street sees a slight (0.3% MoM) increase from April. In addition, home sales and service PMI indicators are also data to watch.

๐Ÿ—ฃ Fed Remarks: Commissioners begin to speak after a regular meeting of the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee. The Fed has acknowledged the recent downward trend in prices but raised its long-term interest rate outlook, hinting at the possibility of a "long-term high interest rate." Commissioners' comments this week are likely to inform what the Fed's true intentions are.

๐Ÿผ CHINA DATA: Data from China, one of the world's largest economies, is pouring in like a flood. From home price data to industrial production, unemployment and retail sales are the first data since the Chinese government implemented an all-time stimulus package to stabilize the real estate market last month. The preferential interest rate on loans, China's benchmark rate, will also be determined.

๐ŸŒ Base rate decision: Following Canada, the European Union and the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway and Australia will also make rate decisions after monetary policy this week. In particular, the U.K. will release inflation data the day before the policy meeting, but the market's expected decision to cut interest rates in July is unlikely.

๐Ÿ—ผ EU: Political uncertainty in France continues. After the announcement of an early general election, France is in danger of the far right taking power. Unrest within France is a factor to watch as it could undermine the EU's foundations. ECB President Christine Lagarde's remarks will be made this week
