What Stocks Showed Ultra-High Earnings

It definitely depends on how much the time horizon is set. Based on the data recorded in the CRSP (center for research in security policies), if you line up the top five stocks with the strongest cumulative return since 1925, it is Table 1.

1st place Altria 265.528,900%
2위 Vulcan Materials 3,934만 9,084%
3위 Kansas City Southern 3,617만 5,578%
4위 General Dynamics 2,208만 4,880%
5th place is Boeing, 2,122,526%

Altria, in other words, tobacco companies have a cumulative return of more than 200 million% by widening the gap with second place (...). It's a cumulative return, so it's on the condition that the dividend is continuously reinvested. If you invest a dollar in Altria in 1925, it'll be $2,655,289 at the end of December 2023. The first to fifth place are stocks that you didn't even know had fun grandparents in common. But the reason they have such a monstrous strong punch to returns is because they survived for a long time. The median life expectancy of 30,000 stocks in the CRSP data is 6.8 years. That is, in less than 10 years, the company went bankrupt and disappeared. Only 31 out of 30,000 companies survived the near 100-year time horizon, so the results are stronger than anyone else.

The 100-year average of 30,000 shares is +22,840%, but the median is -7.4% dirt... which means that half of 30,000 shares have lost money after 100 years of investment. The important thing is, most of the other half of the shares that didn't lose money didn't beat bond yields either.

Oh, I don't know what cumulative return is, and who's going to buy the stock to get a dividend? Bring on the average annual return. So I changed the number two table. Altria, which has a 100-year annualized return, is 16.29%. It's a very human figure;;

What's the point of seeing a grandfather from 100 years ago, I should see a fanciful rookie of the present era. If you narrow down the time horizon to about 20 years, you'll finally find an item that you're familiar with. That's number three. It's natural that Nvidia is No. 1 (the annual conversion rate of 33.38% is as of the end of 2023 so it's higher now.) For your information, Plenum Publishing, ranked second, is said to be a science journal publisher
